Welcome

Newburyport Society for the Relief of Aged Women

The Newburyport Society for the Relief of Aged Women (NSRAW, pronounced “NEZ-RA”), is a private not-for-profit charitable foundation established in 1835 that has been meeting the needs of local women in financial difficulty for over 180 years.

Serving Amesbury, Newbury, Newburyport, and Salisbury women aged 60 and over.

WHAT WE DO

NSRAW provides financial assistance to older Newburyport-area women in two ways:

For Individual Women

NSRAW’s 15-woman board of directors meets regularly to review applications for assistance and disperse foundation funds to older women in our area who cannot afford to pay for critical services they require. These services include:

✓ Dental, medical, or mental health care

✓ Housing or rental costs

✓ Heating or utility fees

✓ Food

✓ Car repairs

For Agencies and Organizations

To extend available support to as many women as possible, NSRAW partners with local agencies and organizations and funds grants to them, as appropriate, that will be directed to NSRAW’s target population.

Words of thanks from women
assisted by NSRAW:

“Thank you for your help with my rent and auto repairs in recent years. Your aid has not only kept a roof over my head and my car running safely, but has also given me a sense of security.”
